Flushable diapers...why haven't people been talking about this more?! Did you know that it takes 500 years for a diaper to decompose in a landfill and a baby goes through about 300-400 diapers its first month?! This disgusting fact actually bothered me. A friend told me about these gdiapers. I know people can be weird about going green, and I don't think it's necessary to use recycled cans as wind chimes and other household decor, but I do think we can do things that make sense. Cloth diapers may be the one of the most disgusting remedies to the disposable diaper. I've seen some nasty diapers and there is no way I'm soaking a soiled cloth covered in poop or rinsing it out in a sink...it will go in the trash.
The beauty of these diapers is that you can flush them OR throw them away and they decompose in the ground in about 90 days...they even say you can use them as compost...again, I'm not about going THAT green. I mean I guess when your kid grows up you can show them the garden and say thanks to their excretions you now have juicy ripe tomatoes for dinner.
Most importantly, besides the fact that we're saving the world one soiled diaper at a time; these really are the cutest diapers in the world. Go to gdiapers.com and check it out. Watch the little clips and tell me you're not impressed. Even if you only use them a 1/3 of the time, I think it's a great cause.

I'm all about going green when I can....however....I watch the video and I'm not entirely sold on the flushing part....but maybe the throwing away part.
I saw these on someone else's blog months ago and didn't really look at their website. As for the cause... Awesome that they disintegrate so well. wHY can't all diapers do so? I didn't watch the clip...but what I wonder is will the liquidy baby poop (from a breast fed baby) stay on the insert and not get all over the cover part? (I am stain treating and washing baby clothes from explosions all the time) And then you have to use either flushable wipes or the wipes won't flush. And the inserts alone are twice the cost of diapers at costco. But sacrificing for our beautiful earth is never bad - always good.

great idea, but sooo expensive considering you change about a million each day. plus, when do you really change a baby by a toilet? i've never done it. so the flushing point is sort of null. they are super cute though, and i would feel so eco friendly. maybe if we were filthy rich! i love your prego pics! i want to see pictures of how your nursery came together!
