My Dad is better than your Dad

MAN BLOG! You know what I love about my Dad? No matter how high he is on the corporate ladder, he's not afraid to get his hands dirty. You know what I love about me? No matter how low I am on the corporate ladder, I hate manual labor. Now for those of you who know me well and are saying, "Yeah right, Ryan's Dad did all the work"...you'd kind of be correct. ALTHOUGH I did prime and paint every board (I did try to convince Erica to get the gardener to do it, but she got mad and said it was racist--we clearly have different definition; I look at it providing job securtiy and food). So I sucked it up and painted for days (with Erica's help, but she's pregnant and paint can be bad). I also measured all the slats for my Dad to cut. Then I was jut the helper of getting the ladder, holding stuff, etc. Still, pretty impressive. Anyway it turned out AMAZING! Thanks Dad
Items in this picture may appear larger than normal--such as my bicep. This is what it could actually look like if I did this for a living--good thing pictures last forever.

Good job Ryan! It looks great! Don't you love dads who know how to do everything though! It can really be very usefull. You'll be a dad soon, so you know what that means. (I'll fill in the blank in case you're not so quick...you better start to know how to do everything which seems to include lots of manual labor ie: cribs, swings, toys, etc.) Good luck!

It turned out great! You're going to be so happy to have a bit of shade this summer when things get toasty. You'll be surprised one day when all that you learned side by side with your dad becomes what you know too. All I know about painting and gardening I learned watching (not really helping) my dad.

Ooh it looks fabulous! I think this little project that you undertook with your dad has put the idea in our brains and we're thinking about building one too. Any pointers?
I way super impressed...especially with your bicep.

Okay, first of all, that post was hysterical! Secondly, I too, am glad that pictures (good ones) last a lifetime. Thirdly, I agree that "Sly" is unnaturally cool, and fourth, your new porch/veranda/covering-up-the-patio-trellis-thingy looks amazing. Congrats.

Well done my friend. As a City Planner my only question is this... Did you have a permit for that?

Nice addition to your already sweet pad. Too bad I can't be there this weekend to see it in person! :(
